🎓 CLASS OF 2024 // We are less than one hour from the start of our celebration of the Class of 2024. Please help us wish our Eagles well in whatever their future holds for each of them. #CVproud

SPECIAL FAREWELL // Every year, District Office staff venture outside (pom poms in hand) on the last day of school to celebrate our students and to cheer for them as they head home for the summer. It's one of our favorite DO staff traditions. Be sure to check back in the days ahead for even more last-day photos.

☀️ SCHOOL'S OUT FOR THE SUMMER // We hope that you enjoy your well-deserved summer break (or, in the case of Mr. Gallagher, Eagle View's principal, your well-deserved retirement). But please know that we truly can't wait to see you back on August 20, 2024, for our first day of school. 🙂

We spotted a sweet moment between friends at Sporting Hill Elementary School yesterday. We hope these Bulldogs remain forever friends.

🎓 CORE MEMORIES MADE // Today is our annual Senior Walk, where soon-to-be grads don their caps + gowns and visit their former elementary and middle schools. (Check back later for lots of 📸 photos from those celebrations across the district.) But first … during a visit to Sporting Hill Elementary School’s Senior Walk, we captured our young Bulldogs lining up for our seniors to sign their memory books. This was definitely a moment (and year!) to remember. #CVproud

🥫 THAT'S 2 MILES OF POP TABS // Throughout the year, we shared the story of Miss Millie Eckerd and team's efforts to collect pop tabs to benefit the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central PA. We're #CVproud to share that, collectively, our school community has donated more than 75 pounds - or 126,720 - tabs! Thank you to everyone who donated. Special shoutout to Mountain View Middle School for collecting and contributing more than 15 pounds of tabs during the last several months. WOW! The Ronald McDonald House helps families of children receiving essential, lifesaving medical care through Hershey. Still have tabs that you want to donate to the cause? You can drop them off with Millie Eckerd at CV High School on or before August 1st for the 23-24 donation or you can save them for the project next school year. While you are having a little fun this summer, consider saving those pop tabs (from soup cans, soda, energy drinks, etc., size of the tab does not matter).

😊 We hope you're heading into this three-day weekend with the same pure joy as young Khamis, our self-proclaimed "world's greatest hula hooper." As a reminder, there is NO SCHOOL on Monday, May 27, 2024. Enjoy the extended weekend, CV. We'll see you on Tuesday, May 28, 2024, for our last week of school.

🎓☀️ SENIOR SUNRISE // A longstanding tradition, members of our Class of 2024 gathered this morning to watch the sunrise together. (We ♥️ that some of our Science Olympiad seniors, who are several states away at Nationals, still joined in on the tradition.) #CVproud

🦋BUTTERFLIES + 🪻FLOWERS + 🌱PLANTS = FUN // On a beautiful spring day recently, 2nd-grade Mountain Lions at Middlesex Elementary School visited Hershey Gardens, where they learned about Monarch butterflies and spring blooms, and even taught the staff at the Gardens their Monarch butterfly song, which was a creative and unique way to learn the parts of a butterfly.

🏆 THEY’RE HEADING TO NATIONALS // The Cumberland Valley Science Olympiad team is leaving today for Michigan State University, where they will compete in the NATIONAL tournament this weekend. Students representing CV include 🦅 Eagles from CV High School and CV9. Good luck, and know that we’re #CVproud!
This will be CV's second Nationals appearance in three years, 2022 being held virtually. PA sends the top 2 teams from the state tournament. CV will represent PA high schools along with Harriton HS from the Lower Merion School District.

👏 Let’s congratulate seniors Mckenna Gerhart and Jonathon Chang, who were recently named Scholar Athlete Awards at the West Shore Hall of Fame Ceremony. Mckenna played soccer and was a member of our track team while Jonathon was swimmer and played water polo.

🎵🎤 GREASE IS THE WORD // As part of this year’s spring concert, our Hampden Elementary School staff put on their best poodle skirts and leather jackets to perform “We Go Together” for students and families. Think they went to the hop 🕺 after the concert? 😀 #CVproud

🍕 Showcasing many of the skills learned throughout the year, some of our 🦅 Eagles at Eagle View Middle School organized and hosted a Food Fest for staff. Please help us give them a shoutout for a (tasty) job well done! #CVproud

👏 Please help us congratulate Lauren Whiteko, Instructional Coach at Middlesex Elementary School and our K-8 Intervention Department Chair, who was recently named a finalist for Amplify’s 2024 Science of Reading Star Award. According to Amplify, this program is designed to honor “the change-making champions leading literacy transformation in their classrooms, schools, and districts." Lauren was nominated by multiple colleagues and went through an extensive interview and vetting process before being named a finalist.
#Congratulations #CVproud

MEET OUR AWARD WINNERS // 👏 Please help us give a special shoutout to Eagle View Middle School Health and PE Teacher Cecelia Clippinger, who recently earned SHAPE PA's Local Teacher of the Year award, and to Winding Creek Elementary School's Bernadette Daries, who was named an Emerging Leader by SHAPE PA. #Congratulations #CVproud

🎣 CORE MEMORIES MADE // Middlesex Elementary School 5th-graders spent the day outdoors to learn, hands-on, more about what's around them. The learning experience was part of the school's annual Environmental Education Days, which includes a special 🐟 catch-and-release fishing event. Special thanks to all of our amazing staff and volunteers who work so hard to make this wonderful day both possible and memorable for our students.

🎨 BEAUTIFY THE BARRIERS // Our 5th grade Gators at Green Ridge Elementary School have been working collaboratively on painting a mural to be installed at the Simpson Library as part of their Beautify the Barriers project. This year's theme for the library's Summer Learning Program is "Adventure Begins at Your Library." As such, the mural design depicts two readers in a blanket fort getting lost in the story as it starts to come to life around them. Please show our artistic Gators some ❤️ for their amazing talent!
