🍕 A Slice of Fun: Students in Mrs. Herman's class at Monroe Elementary had a blast with a creative lesson thoughtfully planned by Ms. Lavoie, the Library Teaching Assistant. After reading Curious George and the Pizza Party, the fun continued as they rolled up their sleeves to create their own pizza masterpieces. Ms. Lavoie’s creativity and efforts were key to the success of the lesson. With the help of a toaster oven generously provided by the Monroe PTO, each student baked their delicious creations and enjoyed a memorable pizza party. It was the perfect combination of learning, creativity, and, of course, tasty food 🥰

❤ HEARTBEATS OF INSPIRATION: Mr. Mike Azzalina, former principal of Shaull Elementary, best-selling author, and motivational speaker, has been making his way around our elementary schools and recently dropped by Hampden to talk to our staff and students about his book Heartbeats. During his visit, he focused on two key Portrait of an Eagle traits: empathy and confidence. He discussed how empathy allows us to understand and connect with others, while confidence empowers us to face challenges and pursue our goals. As he spoke to students and staff, he shared inspiring stories about the people who influenced his journey and explained how these traits are key to the message of his book 📖.
