Student Teaching, Internships, Observations and Field Experience

Thank you for your interest in the Cumberland Valley School District for the completion of your college requirements.  For the safety and security of our students and staff, all requests must be submitted through and receive approval from your college / university.  Direct contact by students, professors or the placement office with principals, department chairs or teachers should not be made until the placement has been approved and established by District Office administration.

College / University representatives can contact
Kerry Johnson, Administrative Assistant to the Assistant Superintendents, to process the placement request.  Please follow the request requirements listed below.

Student Teaching:

  1. College / University student's name and e-mail contact

  2. Start and end date of the placement

  3. Level (elementary, middle, high school), Subject area, if secondary

  4. Student resume or student profile / information page, and current GPA

  5. College / University letter of guarantee that current copies of the student's background checks and security clearances

  6. Proof of a Clear TB test, within three (3) months of starting the assignment.

Internships:

  1. Cover Letter (outlining internship requirements, hours, dates, level, subject)

  2. Student Resume

  3. Copy of recent clearances

  4. Proof of clear TB test, within three (3) months of starting the assignment.

Observations and Field Experience:

  1. College / University student's name and e-mail contact

  2. Details of the placement (time frame, total hours, days)

  3. Level (elementary, middle, high school), Subject area

  4. Student resume or student profile / information page, and current GPA

  5. College / University letter of guarantee that current copies of the student's background checks and security clearances and proof of a Clear TB test are on file.

**Observations and field experiences are not permitted during the week immediately before or after spring break; during PSSA / Keystone testing dates; nor just before or immediately following a break, start or end of the school year.**

Please know that Cumberland Valley School District has established placement relationships with several local colleges and cannot always accommodate placement needs due to the high volume of requests we receive each semester.
