Federal Programs

Welcome to Cumberland Valley School District’s Federal Programs Overview. Our district is committed to providing access to various federal programs designed to support the educational needs of our students, families, and staff.

Title I funds are used to improve basic programs and to provide a high-quality education to meet the state’s rigorous student performance standards.  The funding must be used to provide supplemental instruction for students determined to need academic intervention.  Districts can use the funding to operate a schoolwide or targeted assistance program.   When meeting a certain socio-economic threshold, districts can opt to identify an entire school to be classified as a schoolwide program.  All students and all teachers become eligible to receive Title I services. In a targeted assistance program, specific students are identified to receive supplemental intervention services based on academic need.  Title I funds are used for supplemental teacher salaries/benefits, extended learning opportunities for students, non-public support services, and parent involvement activities.

Title II funds can be used to provide professional development to staff, recruit and retain staff members, enhance library programs, or reduce class sizes.

Title III funds are utilized to support our English Language Learners.

Title IV funds are used to provide well-rounded educational opportunities, safe and healthy student programs, or the effective use of technology.  This sub-grant also offers a transferability option to move the funding sources to Title I.
