Career Exploration

Students at Cumberland Valley are encouraged to explore various post-secondary opportunities to determine what they may want to do in the future. Such explorations are valuable for helping students select a College/Career Pathway and relevant courses. The following Career Exploration opportunities are currently offered to students at Cumberland Valley High School.

Mrs. Terri Consevage, Career Coordinator, oversees various Career Services at Cumberland Valley High School.  Mrs. Consevage can be reached at (717) 506-3516.

Job Shadowing/Career Visitation

What is Job Shadowing?

Job shadowing allows a student to directly observe the day-to-day activities a person would perform in a particular job, and to learn the skills needed to obtain this career. Job shadowing can be for a day or several days. It differs from an internship in that students do not earn academic credit for the experience as it is less than 30 hours. However, students often use job shadowing to determine career interests and future internship opportunities.

All Cumberland Valley High School students are granted two excused absences per school year for the purpose of job shadowing/career visitation.
