Tryout Criteria for evaluations
Players are evaluated on basic skills in 4 areas including ball handling, tackling, finishing, and the speed in which these are executed, which we refer to as the speed of play. Another evaluation aspect is a player's athletic awareness, for example, field vision and decision-making during gameplay. A player's physical condition coming into the season may also be used as a determining factor. In addition, intangible skills like work ethic or teamwork, when needed. An individual's ability to play a role or a variety of roles in the program as a team member will be factored in as the team is being developed. For example, a soccer team can not carry 8 Goal Keepers on a limited roster. Throughout the evaluation process (Try-outs) multiple coaches will be using a scoring rubric using a 4-point scale (4 being the highest level and 1 being the lowest), These scores will be calculated and evaluated over the scheduled sessions.
2024 Spring TRYOUT INFORMATION
Welcome JR HIGH!
Any 7th-9th grade girl (who did not play CV Girls Soccer in the Fall) may try out for either the Jr. High JV or Varsity. Students traveling from the middle schools should take the activity bus from the school to practice. Following team selections practices and games will occur every day after school through May. If the students do not have school, they do not have Jr. High athletic events. Some exceptions may occur and some games could be scheduled during Spring Break.

Varsity TRYOUT INFORMATION
Any 9th-12th grade girl
interested in participating in CVGS during the fall season must have
their PIAA physical forms sections 1-7 completed after June 1 and completed through Rank One, see Athletic Training Page ASAP.
High School Tryouts are August 14,15,16 2 sessions a day.
All 6 sessions for evaluation will take place at Eagle View Stadium.
Rosters will be released Wednesday Night and posted under the team tab on this website.

Cumberland Valley has scheduled games and our practices are typically Monday-Friday of every week throughout the fall, practices typically 4-5:30 or 5:30-7. Games range from 3:45-7:00pm, with the occasional Saturday or Sunday not to exceed 6 days a week.
