Dear CV Families,

We truly appreciate your partnership with us in the health and education of our students. To that end, we would like to share a few helpful reminders as the flu and other illnesses are prevalent across our region.

Please keep ill children at home – When ill, everyone needs their rest to recover and to further prevent the spread of the illness. Additionally, students who are ill cannot learn effectively and are unable to participate in classes in a meaningful way. Children should be fever free without the aid of fever-reducing medications for a minimum of 24 hours prior to returning to school. Please click here to review our medical guidelines regarding when to keep a sick child home from school.

Medical care – If students begins to feel ill at school, they should immediately seek the care of their school nurse. Children may also need to be seen by the family doctor for diagnosis and further treatment. Please contact your child’s school nurse should your child be diagnosed with the flu or another contagious illness.

Know the signs and symptoms – The Centers for Disease Control offers a wealth of information on their website, including signs and symptoms of the flu and prevention and treatments tips. Please visit their website at https://www.cdc.gov/flu/ for more information.
