Classrooms for the Future

Creating 21st century instructional settings using 21st century techniques to enable 21st century children to succeed in an interconnected world

Under Governor Rendell's leadership, the Classrooms for the Future (CFF) school reform initiative was designed to ensure the creation of technology rich "smart" classrooms in public high schools across the Commonwealth. Targeting the core subject areas of English, math, science, and social studies, the CFF grant program provides laptop computers for students and robust professional development for teachers, ensuring seamless integration of 21st century technologies into instructional practices.

Goals of the CFF program include:

 • Improving teaching and learning in English, math, science, and social studies
 • Changing classroom practices
 • Changing student-teacher relationships
 • Increasing student engagement
 • Increasing student responsibility for learning
 • Developing 21st century skills
 • Increasing academic achievement
