NuPaths, cofounded by Harrisburg University, together with Cumberland Valley School District are excited to announce their first-ever curricular partnership program – Technical and Security Assistant.

This partnership program, which successfully filled all available seats and created a waitlist during its first semester at CV, prepares high school students from Cumberland Valley for entry level careers in IT Support and Cyber Security. The program, which was also offered to students in neighboring districts, proudly welcomes a student from Carlisle Area School District into the classroom alongside CV seniors.

“We are thrilled to partner with Cumberland Valley School District to provide students with a program focused on in-demand careers in information technology,” said Harrisburg University President Dr. Eric Darr. “NuPaths helps students develop skill sets that employers are searching for, especially when it relates to helpdesk, software testing and IT security operation center positions. We hope other school districts follow the lead of Cumberland Valley School District and also partner with NuPaths to provide a career-focused IT development program for their students.”

This workforce development program provides an opportunity for high school students to earn up to six industry certifications while simultaneously earning high school elective credits and college credits. Upon successful completion of this program, students will have marketable and employable skills.

The District anticipates partnerships with additional business and industry leaders to expand workforce development and industry certification programs for its students.

“This innovative program prepares students for both immediate employment and post-secondary education. Within the information technology and computer science industry, employers routinely pay for post-secondary education coursework, as well as provide meaningful summer employment for students seeking a four-year, full-time degree,” said CV Superintendent Frederick S. Withum III. “At Cumberland Valley School District, we are striving to connect our educational programs and opportunities with post-secondary educational institutions and employers so that students can have a seamless transition into a career that provides family-sustaining wages and room for advancement.”

Representatives from Harrisburg University and Cumberland Valley School District came together on Friday, Sept. 14, to showcase the program to state and local workforce development professionals, business and industry leaders, and local educators during an Open House. Following remarks, guests will were invited to tour the partnership classroom and to interact with students and teachers involved in the program.
