Student Grouping for Success

The process to create classroom rosters is a team effort that is completed with great care. The grade level teachers, specialist teachers, special education teachers, ESL teacher, school counselor, school psychologist, instructional and reading specialists, and the school principal work together to create student/teacher assignments. We consider a wide variety of factors including student academic information, learning styles, peer relations, special needs and class size.

The main goal of student grouping for success is to ensure each student is grouped with about 5 students who will work together during small group instruction. Each teacher will differentiate instruction for these groups of students with similar abilities. This method of grouping students ensures that all classes have academic leadership allowing students to serve as academic leaders and role models. We strive to create classrooms in which students bring a variety of strengths and personalities to create a dynamic and meaningful learning environment.
