• CV Science Olympiad:  A tradition of excellence

  • Cumberland Valley HS and Eagle View Middle School are the reining regional champions for 2019, and along with Good Hope MS (4th place in the region) will advance to state level competition on April 27th!
  •
  • Science Olympiad is an academic team competition in which students compete against groups from other schools in events that test their knowledge and skills in science and engineering; the top performing schools qualify for a similar competition at the state level!

  • Since the team size is limited, and the membership must be adept in a range of competitions, students will be evaluated by the team sponsor in their middle or high school building in order to determine if they can bring a unique skill set to the squad.

Since the competitions require advanced science knowledge, the HS team is typically composed of 11th and 12th grade students, but students in 9th and 10th grade are welcome to try out. Since the middle school competition allows for students in grades 6-9, 9th grade students occasionally compete with their former team if space is available.

While the team sponsors volunteer to provide organizational leadership, this is primarily an extracurricular activity, with students holding the primary responsibility for success. Once the team is set, students will need to prepare for their competition, or design and build their apparatus outside of the school day, with after school sessions held at the convenience of the volunteer faculty sponsor.
