Hospitality and Tourism Management Program

The Hospitality and Tourism Management Program is a 2 credit course designed for juniors and seniors interested in the hospitality industry. Arranged as a blocked class taught by both FCS and Business Department teachers, students will study and learn employability skills and job-specific technical skills for the Hospitality and Tourism Career Cluster. Classroom instruction, as well as hands-on industry experience with local businesses, will comprise the program content.

Upon successful completion of two exams and 100 hours in the industry (some hours are built into the course), students will earn a professional certification from the American Hotel & Lodging Educational Institute - Certified Hospitality and Tourism Management Professional (CHTMP). CHTMP certification is an entry-level industry credential and may also be carried into a college hospitality program (Associate's or Bachelor's degree program). Certification is optional.

Students who desire to obtain the CHTMP certification must complete a 100 hour internship over the course of a school year.  Internships will be coordinated through CV's Career Education Program. Prior to starting an internship, students must complete an internship application and be approved by Mrs. Consevage, Career Coordinator. Following completion of an internship, students will earn 1 additional elective credit.
