Patricia Hillery, Ed. D.
Assistant Superintendent for Elementary Education
Dr. Hillery is a 1989 graduate of Shippensburg University with a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Elementary Education. In 2006, she completed a Master of Education degree in Curriculum & Instruction from Shippensburg University. K-12 Principal certifications were awarded through Shippensburg University in 2009, and she obtained her Superintendent’s Letter of Eligibility in 2011 from Shippensburg University. In 2013, Dr. Hillery earned her Doctorate in Educational Leadership from Widener University. Her doctoral research focused on the principal’s leadership role in professional learning communities.
Dr. Hillery's career with Cumberland Valley began in 2003 as a fourth-grade teacher at Middlesex Elementary where she also taught third-grade. She served as principal at Hampden Elementary School from 2009-2014. She has also served as an assistant principal with Shallow Brook Intermediate School and Spring Forge Intermediate School in Manchester and as a kindergarten teacher at St. Mary’s Catholic School in Lawton, Oklahoma.
As Assistant Superintendent for Elementary Education, she provides leadership and support to the seven elementary principals and 3,900+ elementary students. The elementary department believes a child's love of learning begins in elementary school. The team is committed to every child's growth in a safe and supportive learning environment.
Dr. Hillery resides in Hampden Township with her husband Steve and is the proud mother of three children who attended Hampden Elementary and graduated from Cumberland Valley High School.
